This is some graffiti on a street in Sydney, visible from a major train-line.So much for religious freedom and understanding other cultures. What somebody wears is no one’s business but their own, and assuming Muslim women are oppressed based purely on clothing is disgusting. I don’t understand why something so blatantly islamophobic and oppressive is kept there, when regular graffiti is usually painted over.

i just don’t understand why men* are trying to tell women* what to do. isn’t that just as “oppressive” as the misconception that Muslim men force women to wear the burqas in the first place?
